Summary: Kai met Avery only once--in the moment he died saving her life. Now when he's not using his new healing powers to help people, he watches helplessly as Avery's life is unraveled by his death. To help her, he risks everything by breaking the rules, dangerously blurring the barriers between life and death.
ReviewBeyond the Rising Tide is a phenominal summer read that just hit your feels in all the right ways. The story was beautifully written and the concept was perfectly put together. It is told in dual-perspectives, Kai and Avery, which I thought was how this story should be told because a lot really happens in this book.
Beyond the Rising Tide is about Kai who died saving Avery's life which leaves Avery dealing with the aftermath. Instead of going to a Elysium, Kai was given a chance to save people's lives and has been watching over Avery. Kai couldn't stand to see Avery wasting her life mourning for him so he risked everything to help her.
I really connected with the characters in the book especially with Avery. She is a very likable and relatable person. Kai was this mysterious guy who everyone would want to figure out. The characters that Sarah Beard created were so amazing that you for a deep connection to them.
The story was great. It had me laughing, smiling, and crying the entire time. It flowed very smoothly and it wasn't boring at all.
Overall, this is a must read for all contemporary lovers out there. It is a very easy and light read that will have you indulged for an entire afternoon (that is what happened to me).
