Summary: A library apprentice, a sorcerer prince, and an unbreakable magic bond...
The Solaris Empire is one conquest away from uniting the continent, and the rare elemental magic sleeping in seventeen-year-old library apprentice Vhalla Yarl could shift the tides of war.

Vhalla has always been taught to fear the Tower of Sorcerers, a mysterious magic society, and has been happy in her quiet world of books. But after she unknowingly saves the life of one of the most powerful sorcerers of them all—the Crown Prince Aldrik—she finds herself enticed into his world. Now she must decide her future: Embrace her sorcery and leave the life she’s known, or eradicate her magic and remain as she’s always been. And with powerful forces lurking in the shadows, Vhalla’s indecision could cost her more than she ever imagined.

Air Awakens was absolutely phenomenal. There is magical elements mixed in with war and romance and I am over the moon excited what the next book will bring.

Air Awakens follow Vhalla, a normal library apprentice, who find out to have the Air Affinity, which many believed to have died out over the time of conquest and war. Vhalla becomes entangled in court life after gaining the attention of the crown prince who she unintentionally saved among others.

Vhalla did not stick out to me for the most part of the book. There were times she annoys me and then there were times that I really like her. At the end we were able to see some development from Vhalla as she learns to embrace her powers so I cannot wait to see more of that in the next book.

The world building was amazing and I just wanted to read more about it. It is unique, it has its own history and I just love everything about it. I absolutely love Elise Kova's writing style and how she told the story. It kept me entertained and it kept my interest throughout the book.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to continue on with the series. I can't wait to find out what happens next and see more Aldrik!
